DESCRIPTION
Projects that demonstrate excellence in digital construction using 4D modeling to simulate and optimize construction. The projects should show their impact on cost, safety, reliability, predictability, and quality, while including real-time progress recording to create project digital twins.

CRITERIA
- Bentley technology (such as SYNCHRO) must be used (alone or in combination with ProjectWise, Navigator, or other software) by engineering and construction firms, 4D service providers, and owners.
- Submissions should discuss how BIM models are linked with the 4D time dimension to intrinsically and immersively synchronize, through digital workflows, the construction strategy, work breakdown structure, schedule, costs, resources, supply chain logistics, and progress. The schedule must be linked to the 3D geometry and data to enable a virtual simulation of the project or specific aspects of the project.
- The 4D models should optimize the ideal construction path prior to actual construction and/or deliver critical construction and fabrication information directly to the materials controls and project controls systems. Models should also show how they identify and resolve clashes and demonstrate multidiscipline coordination prior to construction.
- Submissions should demonstrate a combination of technical innovation, good project management, and a clear return on investment. Some examples include reduced design and/or project time, resource hours saved, cost savings realized, and an increase in business performance.
- Credit will be given to submissions where progress is recorded on-site. For example, progress recorded via mobile devices—such as HoloLens, phone, or tablets—or with automated tracking technology—such as photogrammetry or RFID tags—and presented as management dashboards for progress tracking.

Some examples are commercial buildings, educational and government campuses, airports, and other public or private facilities.

CRITERIA
- Bentley building products (OpenBuildings Designer or its GenerativeComponents capabilities, OpenBuildings Station Designer or LEGION Simulator) must have been used to demonstrate excellence in design modeling, BIM data management, computational design, engineering analysis, design review visualization, or building asset lifecycle management.
- Projects should demonstrate the use of technical innovation that resulted in high-quality building projects. Quality can refer to the building or project’s functional performance to meet the client’s business need, aesthetics, reduction in carbon footprint, energy savings, and quality of space. Projects might also detail how they complied with regulations or accreditations, and how they improved the construction delivery process, operational efficiencies, material savings, and design or engineering innovation.
- Projects should demonstrate effective interoperability, including data exchange for design coordination or hand-over as well as innovation in project team collaboration.
- Projects must demonstrate a clear return on investment (to the owner, project, or submitter) in terms of either cost savings, risk avoidance, increased value in the resulting project, or increased business performance.
- Submissions must clearly present the project and benefits achieved by using project images, project models, animations, contract deliverables, simulations, charts, diagrams, text, and application screenshots.

- Digital cities operational submissions should include digital workflows associated to critical infrastructure, cadastral mapping, 3D/4D city- or campus-scale models (digital twins), and other geospatial workflows. City- or campus-scale project delivery submissions should include discipline-specific engineering and BIM process adoption.
- Submissions must demonstrate a combination of technical innovation, good project management, collaborative workflows, tangible benefits to public infrastructure and the environment, and a clear return on investment. For city submissions focused on operational or asset performance, it should include planning and operational efficiencies, resource hours saved, savings in operational costs or improvements in asset performance. CRITERIA

- Projects must demonstrate a combination of technical innovation through engineering and controlling impact on existing infrastructure to reduce risk.

Projects can include onshore and offshore oil and gas production facilities, petrochemical and chemical plants, metals processing, food and pharmaceutical production, automotive, CPG, semi-conductors, hi-tech, and equipment manufacture. Projects can also demonstrate the industrial fabrication of large-scale building or other infrastructure components.

2019 Winner: Hatch, Democratic Republic of the Congo
CRITERIA
- Bentley technology (PlantSight, OpenPlant, AutoPLANT, STAAD, AutoPIPE, SACS, OpenRoads, OpenBuildings Designer, Bentley Raceway and Cable Management, and Promis.e) must be used (alone or in combination with other software) to plan, design, construct, and/or operate these facilities. Typically, these projects are multidiscipline.
- Projects must demonstrate a combination of technical innovation, excellence in project management, and a clear return on investment, such as reduced design and/or project time, resource hours saved, cost savings realized, and an increase in business performance.

Offshore:
- Bentley applications must be used to innovatively plan, design, build, operate, model, or analyze offshore facilities. Examples include OpenWindPower, SACS, MOSES, MAXSURF, STAAD, RAM, AutoPIPE, and PlantSight but are not exclusive to these products. Bentley software may be used in combination with other applications.
- Projects must demonstrate a combination of technical innovation, engineering and project management excellence, innovation in offshore structural engineering, and a clear return on investment. Project return on investment might include reduced design and/or project time, resource hours saved, cost savings realized, and an increase in business performance.
- Submissions must cover specific offshore conditions found at sea, including various sea states, saltwater and biological (marine growth) effects, wave, and vessel impact analysis.
- Submissions must also discuss safety, environmental impact, and business drivers.

CRITERIA
- Standardized use of ProjectWise technology, including ProjectWise Design Integration, ProjectWise Deliverables Management, and any of the ProjectWise Connections Services must be used to manage, control, and integrate information to plan, design, build, and deliver projects. iModels and Bentley applications like Navigator Mobile, ProjectWise Worksite, Bentley Map Mobile, and ProjectWise Edge must be used to collaborate with the project supply chain.
- The project or project portfolio must demonstrate a combination of technical innovation and interoperability, superior project information management, and improved team collaboration with a clear return on investment. Project return on investment can include reduced design and/or project time, resource hours saved, cost savings realized, and an increase in business performance.

Reality modeling is the process of capturing the physical reality of an infrastructure asset, creating a 3D representation of it, and maintaining it through continuous surveys. Projects must demonstrate excellence and digital advancements in reality capture and/or visualization that solved a specific design, construction, or operations challenge. Projects must demonstrate how reality modeling enabled better decision-making, and/or streamlined the process of collaboration or approvals through improved communication.

CRITERIA
- Projects must have used ContextCapture, LumenRT, Descartes, Orbit, or Pointools.
- Submissions should clearly present the project and benefits achieved, including a clear return on investment, such as reduced design and/or project time, resource hours saved, and cost savings realized. It should also demonstrate an increase in business performance, an explanation of technical innovation, and be supported by 3D model animation, data capture information, high-resolution images, screenshots, or sample datasets.
