Maynilad Water Services, Inc. serves more than nine million people as the private water concessionaire for the west zone of Metro Manila, operating across a dense and aging network. Preventing water loss before it affects customers, maintaining service reliability, and meeting regulatory commitments remained persistent challenges. Leak analysis was limited to individual district metered areas, leaving primary transmission mains outside routine investigation despite their potential to lose significantly more water and affect entire downstream neighborhoods. Earlier modeling tools could not be scaled or repeated effectively.

Using the automated calibration and scenario management tools in OpenFlows Water, the team expanded leakage hotspot simulation from individual metered areas to entire systems. Coverage now extends across more than 300 metered areas and 28 hydraulic systems, where simulation identified over 700 potential leaks and guided more than 450 confirmed repairs. Recovering an estimated 20 to 40 million liters a day generates at least PHP 22.8 million annually while adding supply without new sources. These results directly supported Maynilad’s NRW reduction objectives and progress toward its 2025 target.
