To help Georgia DOT access asset data for more than 80,000 miles of road centerline, Phocaz is updating its CLIP CAD-GIS application that automates extraction of road characteristics from design files. The project required not only unlocking asset data from legacy files and integrating new multisourced data, but also creating user-based automated workflows. Phocaz needed an integrated digital solution to capture asset drawing data based on the client’s design standards and then transform it into GIS information.Phocaz leveraged ProjectWise to store and manage the roadway design files and iTwin to generate a cloud-based digital twin where artificial intelligence and machine learning can be applied for the feature detection process. The Bentley-based solution simplified the CAD-GIS workflow, minimizing the complexities of creating a machine learning model. Compared to manual workflows, automating and digitizing the process of finding highway assets and their locations saves significant time and cost while providing more accurate results. Connecting the CAD-GIS workflow through iTwin facilitates accessibility, promoting a multitude of uses and benefits across multiple disciplines and industries.
