Hinkley Point C is the United Kingdom’s largest nuclear infrastructure project and a critical part of the country’s low-carbon energy strategy. Since 2022, AtkinsRéalis’ Global Technology Centre has supported the Mechanical, Electrical, and HVAC (MEH) Alliance by delivering advanced 4D BIM services in a high-change construction environment. Frequent design and schedule updates made static planning too slow for sequencing, constructability, and work-package readiness decisions. 

Using Bentley Infrastructure Cloud and SYNCHRO 4D, AtkinsRéalis linked federated 3D BIM models to live construction schedules and automated thousands of schedule-model connections. The team reduced 4D model production and update effort by 20% to 30%, delivered more than 40 MEH-specific 4D models (averaging 20 per month), and identified over 15 constructability issues monthly. Digital rehearsal of more than 15 major installations, including reactor pressure vessels, improved pre-field risk detection and execution certainty.
