Project summary

HSR Central Bohemia is a 67-kilometer greenfield high-speed rail corridor that supports the future Prague–Brno axis. SUDOP PRAHA led engineering design, BIM management, digital coordination, GIS-based communication, and model-based delivery on the project while working with multiple design partners. The team optimized route and vertical alignment while communicating impacts on municipalities, water-protection areas, land access, and interfaces with the existing railway network.

Using ProjectWise, OpenRail, OpenCities Planner, and related Bentley applications, SUDOP PRAHA built a connected workflow for design, coordination, digital submissions, and public BIM/GIS communication. The model-based approach helped address an initial 15 million cubic meters of earthworks surplus, reducing expected costs by approximately CZK 10 to 20 billion compared with the previous design variant and achieving 12% to 20% work-hours savings against a broad estimate of 140,000 hours. It also helped stakeholders understand the corridor in its real geographic context.
