London Power Tunnels 2 (LPT2) will help replace and improve the London power network by constructing 3-meter-diameter tunnels stretching 32.5 kilometers at depths of 10 meters to 63 meters. After previously using traditional transactional methods, they wanted a collaborative digital approach. They hired Mott MacDonald to integrate the digital approach with existing processes and infrastructure. However, Mott MacDonald required a connected data environment.They selected ProjectWise as the collaborative platform and single source of truth for all engineering data. Using Bentley’s software enabled six companies to work within the same production environment with the client and exchange information within minutes. Mott MacDonald used the solution to eliminate up to four hours of work transferring data packages, streamline workflows, and provide instant visibility into work progress, as well as data consistency. SYNCHRO Pro’s 4D modeling helped assess construction and identify potential safety issues. The digital strategy lays the foundation to leverage digital DNA for asset operations and maintenance.
