TYLin International is delivering an approximately 800-meter dual three-lane road tunnel connecting Sin Ming Avenue and Ang Mo Kio Avenue 3 as part of Singapore’s 21.5-kilometer North-South Corridor. The project includes an underground MRT station box and commuter facilities, with T.Y.Lin International providing geotechnical, civil, structural, and mechanical and electrical engineering support. Within a dense urban environment, construction had to advance alongside high-rise buildings, critical infrastructure, and heavily trafficked roads. The team addressed complex ground conditions and severe spatial constraints while coordinating road, tunnel, utility, structural, geotechnical, and rail interfaces and minimizing impacts on surrounding structures and the public.
Using Bentley applications, T.Y.Lin developed integrated models of terrain, roads, utilities, and ground behavior, improving coordination across multidiscipline teams. The OpenRoads Designer dataset streamlined project delivery by allowing engineers and draftsmen to focus on solving engineering challenges and doing documentation in a single environment. The wider corridor is projected to reduce travel times from approximately 80 minutes to 20 minutes, while releasing about 30 football fields of surface road area for greener spaces. The project demonstrates how digital engineering can support the delivery of complex urban infrastructure while improving mobility, sustainability, and long-term community outcomes.
