The Silvertown Tunnel in East London is part of new river crossings that will ease the strain on existing crossings. Riverlinx consortium won the bid to design, construct, operate, and maintain the new tunnel under the River Thames, featuring a 1.4-kilometer, twin-bore road tunnel and 600 meters of access ramps. To meet the owner’s strict vehicle emissions standards and BIM requirements, they wanted to leverage BIM technologies and establish a connected data environment to coordinate a design team using different modeling software.Riverlinx selected ProjectWise to share and manage approximately 300 models, establishing a single source of truth that unified the design process. They integrated the various software models, automating model reviews and drawing production that saved time and reduced staff requirements by approximately 20%. The deliverables management capability streamlined project collaboration and saved the project close to GBP 100,000. At the end of construction, the 3D models will be updated with as-built information to be used for operations and asset management.
