OpenBridge, OpenRoads
Burgess & Niple is helping deliver the SR 35 (US 98) Design-Build project, an approximately 18-mile corridor improvement program in Florida. As lead roadway design engineer, the team had to manage complex corridor conditions, drainage and environmental constraints, utility coordination and maintain traffic during construction while helping stakeholders move from traditional 2D workflows to model-based delivery.
Using OpenRoads Designer and a fully integrated digital delivery workflow, the team created one 3D model as the source of truth to improve design coordination, constructability, and construction tracking. This approach supported projected completion approximately 1 year ahead of schedule, an estimated 15% to 20% reduction in design rework hours, and approximately 20% improvement in team efficiency. It also helped enhance drainage and stormwater systems, resulting in a more sustainable, efficient, and resilient infrastructure system.
