Project summary
Located in the Kubuqi Desert in Inner Mongolia, the Kubuqi 2,000-megawatt photovoltaic desertification control project aims to provide clean energy through photovoltaic power generation and achieve desert control. Upon completion, it is expected to save an average of 706,600 tons of coal per year and reduce annual emissions of various pollutants. SIDRI is the leading general contractor and design company. They faced challenges managing the large project scale amid a short construction period that previously used technology solutions failed to accommodate. To facilitate seamless data exchange and design coordination, SIDRI needed integrated digital modeling and analysis applications.SIDRI selected OpenBuildings Designer, OpenRoads Designer, and STAAD for terrain processing, 3D modeling, and structural analysis. Using Bentley’s integrated applications, they developed a digital project management and design platform, achieving design automation and accurate quantity takeoffs and material costs. The applications shortened the design delivery by six weeks. The comprehensive digital solution increased design efficiency by 70% and accuracy by 80% and reduced on-site changes during construction by 40%.
