Project summary

This 500-kilovolt power transmission station aims to optimize Nanning City’s power grid structure, improving power supply reliability and promoting clean energy. Located in a hilly area, the project presented site challenges compounded by coordinating multiple disciplines and substation equipment. To address these issues while achieving full clean energy consumption, the company sought to establish intelligent digital workflows and substation processes. When traditional technology methods proved ineffective, the company used this project as an opportunity to improve current digital design standards in China’s power sector.

Leveraging Bentley Open applications, ProjectWise, and SYNCHRO, the company established a collaborative BIM design platform and performed construction simulation. Working in a connected digital environment streamlined workflows to shorten design time by 10% and resolve 85 design collisions that reduced on-site construction changes by 91.8%. Through accurate 3D modeling, the team reduced the construction period by 5%. The 3D models provide comprehensive data and support for intelligent, digital power grid operations and maintenance.
