Image/video submission style guide
Upload high resolution images and videos
To complete your YII Awards submission, please provide at least three supporting images that best represent your project and three supporting videos. If you have created a digital twin or an iModel for your project, then you should upload images of the physical asset as well as its digital twin.
If you are selected as a finalist, your project images will also be used in large-scale print (such as posters), which requires high resolution/pixel dimensions. To make sure your images look great at that scale, please provide images at the highest resolution possible.
Image guidelines:
- Make sure your images are as high in resolution as possible.
- Renderings and/or photos: 9000×4500 pixels at 300dpi (150dpi minimum).
- Screen shots: 16:9 ratio at the largest screen possible.
- File formats: .png, .jpg, .tiff, .eps.
Keep in mind that an image and rendering of the actual (or nearly) finished project grabs people’s attention faster and is often more visually appealing than screen shots of software interfaces, charts, PowerPoint slides, etc.
Video submission guidelines
General requirements:
- Submit high-resolution videos of your project without any text or graphics overlays.
- Ideal footage includes:
- Clean demo or software rendering screen recordings
- Videos of projects with no added text
- Our team will add courtesy text graphics for attribution.
- Finalists will be required to provide clean demo videos or software screen recordings for event-branded materials.
Technical specifications:
- Resolution: 1920 × 1080 (Full HD), 16:9 aspect ratio
- Frame Rate: Minimum 30 fps
- File Formats: .mp4, .mov, or .avi
- Bitrate: Recommended 10–20 Mbps (higher bitrate = better quality, larger file size)
Important notes:
- All submissions must meet these requirements or may not be accepted.
- Ensure screen recordings are captured and exported using the above settings.
The independent jury will review these images and videos in conjunction with your responses in the submission form. Your animations, videos, image files, and models will be used in the YII Awards marketing and promotion, as agreed to in the Participation Agreement that authorizes Bentley to use the materials supplied.
Please give your files a descriptive name to help the jury understand the content. Make sure you name your files using your company name and a numbering sequence (for example: companydescription1.jpg).
Please also provide a suitable caption for each image that best describes it.
To submit additional or different file types, please email [email protected] for further instructions.

How to create a winning submission
What the jury wants to see:
- Your innovative use of digital advancements and other technology
- How you overcame challenges, big and small
- Quantitative metrics to demonstrate your positive outcomes
- A sustainable way forward (economically and environmentally)
Good submissions meet the following requirements:
- Complete the online application form
- Upload three high-resolution images
- Minimum resolution: 1920×1080 pixels at 150dpi
- Upload all available project-related and/or relevant videos

Better submissions have a little something extra by:
- Not selling the project short
- Provide detailed descriptions that include your project’s scope, goals, and methods used
- Describing how they used Bentley software to accomplish their goals
- Provide specific answers. For example, don’t just say that something helped increase ROI; tell the jurors how it helped increase ROI
- Including other visual and auditory aids
- These could include videos, narrated walkthroughs, or other media that help the judges understand and visualize your project better
The best submissions go above and beyond by:
- Telling the jury why the project is unique and innovative
- Explain what sets your project apart in terms of innovation and advancements
- Providing quantifiable, measurable, numeric data
- How much time did you save? What is your estimated ROI? What was the percentage reduction of costs?
- How does it benefit the industry or society at large?

FAQs
Are these the same as the Going Digital Awards?
Yes. The Going Digital Awards were renamed the YII Awards. Digital innovation is still at the heart of the program, but the new name highlights what the awards truly represent—the most innovative and impactful infrastructure projects of the year.
How do the YII Awards work?
After the projects are submitted, they are reviewed by an independent panel of jurors, using criteria specific to each category and according to these standards:
- Provided quantitative, measurable, numeric data (where applicable).
- Exhibited a sustainable way forward, both economically and environmentally.
- Demonstrated innovative use of technology to meet project goals.
- Overcame challenges, no matter how large or small the project.
- Leveraged digital innovations and information modeling to create truly integrated projects that deliver intelligent infrastructure.
Three finalists are chosen in each of the 12 categories. Here’s the best part—the finalists will win a trip to present their projects at the event before the juries and key members of the industry’s most influential press. The jurors will then make a final decision on the winners of each category, who will be announced at a gala celebration on the final day of the Year in Infrastructure Awards.
