To enhance provision of specialized care, increase hospital capacity, and accommodate growing parking and accessibility demands, Connecticut Children’s Hospital in Hartford is being renovated and expanded. DPR is constructing the project and faced planning and coordination challenges on an aggressive construction schedule. To meet critical milestones and keep the project on track, they realized that they needed comprehensive construction management technology for precise planning and streamlined workflows.
DPR selected Bentley SYNCHRO to generate a digital twin and link their schedule directly to the model. Bentley’s construction simulation solution enabled the team to visualize the entire construction process virtually and track progress in real time against their plan. Using the digital twin saved USD 1.4 million and reduced coordination time by 62% to complete 95% of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing works six months ahead of schedule. The digital approach not only ensured DPR hit their ambitious milestones, but also established a new standard for managing and communicating large-scale construction projects with unparalleled clarity and efficiency.
