Located on the border between China and Vietnam, this 13.5-kilometer highway serves the Detian Transnational Waterfall scenic spot, improving travel conditions and promoting tourism. Passing through mountainous terrain, dense, urban residential areas, and scenic spaces, the project presented complex terrain and landscape protection challenges. To address these issues and coordinate multiple project participants, the team needed an integrated digital modeling solution to streamline design and construction management.
Leveraging Bentley ProjectWise to establish a connected data environment and Bentley OpenRoads to develop their BIM highway design system, the team standardized and automated 3D design workflows, improving collaboration by 60% and resolving 37 potential design conflicts. Integrating Bentley LumenRT to visually communicate design intent reduced communication costs by 30% and minimized construction risks. Working in an open digital modeling platform reduced design changes and optimized coordination and management to save an estimated CNY 6 million. The digital solution protected landscapes and the ecological environment, and reduced carbon emissions by 37.2 tons.
