Project summary
With expertise in geotechnical design and engineering, Royal HaskoningDHV was an early adopter utilizing automated and digitalized ground data management and 3D models for advanced interpretation. Previously, soft soil tests were done manually with PDFs and 2D models, which was time-consuming and error-prone, and limited the value of data for geotechnical engineers. They needed a collaborative technology platform to collect, integrate, and reuse data, as well as facilitate reliable digital workflows. They selected OpenGround as the foundation for geotechnical information management. OpenGround’s accessible single source of truth supports Royal HaskoningDHV’s accurate soil data and enabled a process-based, collaborative approach. Having access to more accurate data in a 3D visual environment provided holistic context, improving understanding of subsurface conditions for data-driven decisions. The collaborative digital solution reduced time on small projects by 10% and by up to 40% on larger projects, with enormous potential to maximize the value of data and connect with other design platforms for future sustainable designs.
